It only took us six days (including a break for the Good Friday service, Easter service and Easter dinner) to completely tear apart the house. Nathan has now started to reroute some of the electricity in the entry and the kitchen as well as frame the doors we expanded (both bathroom doors) and a small wall in the entry which replaces the full size closet. During the six day demolition Nathan and his dad also changed out ALL of the windows and moved the kitchen plumbing from one wall to another, two very very big tasks. Everything should be a breeze from here ;) Right?
Please make one note while looking at these pictures. My sister-in law was quick to point out Michael's construction clothing. A button up shirt. ALWAYS a button up shirt. Whether mountain biking, ice climbing, skiing or tearing down walls. It all is done better and looks better in a button up shirt. I love my father in-law!!!
Lets start this off right, the size of the dumpster must be presented first.
You might be asking, have we filled it? Almost! I think once we tear down the basement walls, it will be at capacity.
First project: down comes the entry closet:

Also notice above the half wall with the spindles is gone.
On to the Kitchen. All of the cabinets were sent to the dumpster, I did remove the hardware just incase we wanted to reuse it. And the wall that used to separate the dining room and kitchen is gone.
Here is the wall in pieces in the living room.
Here is the nice new open kitchen. Notice, the flooring is gone. Laminate wood, worthless. What I love is that we found linoleum under it. And under the bathroom flooring AND under the family room carpet.
Here is the newly framed kitchen window that the kitchen sink will be under.
This is our high class night security system. And yes, every one of those doors is a different color and came from a different room in the house... The chandelier will go.
No more popcorn ceiling or wood paneling!
This was my project on Saturday, removing all of the carpet tack board from around the upstairs as well as all of the staples that held the padding down. I got two rooms, the bathroom and the hallway done. The stairs were my toughest part of the project.

The finished product: BEAUTIFUL! (I would like to thank the music of ADELE for my inspiration on this project)
Then I needed a nap...
Check out the lovely linoleum:
We removed all the baseboards. We wanted to keep them but they had been painted over several times and they did not leave room for the carpet to be tucked under them, they went straight to the floor.
Here's the BIG project: PLUMBING!
Yes, that is a baseball hat on my father in-laws head but don't jump to conclusions just yet, it says Callaway on the front. GOLF.
The top two pictures are from the basement ceiling. The bottom picture is the end result, look closely under the door :)
New window:
Demolished peach bathroom.
I'm exhausted just looking at these pictures, are you?
Nathan, Michael and Linda are the hardest workers I know. Praise the Lord for their help with this! In two years, we pray that the pay back will be all worth it. Your all invited to a party or twenty parties when this is all done!
Note: VOLUNTEERS are ALWAYS WELCOME :)
