Part I
Let's first start with what been going on with us. Since Easter I've applied for three jobs was denied two and got one :) I am now the part-time Administrative Assistant in the School of Theology. I've been there for two weeks now and have loved every day of it! I'm training myself ,which I'm very used to doing, so that's keeping me very busy. It's a quiet office with all of the students gone and the Professors off studying and writing, etc. Most of the time there's one Professor in the office all summer. It's a great change of pace!
Nathan put together a series of banquets during the beginning of May. They came together so well and he was able to raise a significant amount of money and awareness. There are more people giving and praying for Prison Fellowship now because of his efforts.
My last day in the LDC was May 14th. The office took me out to lunch and even threw a little party for me. Up until the day of the party I wasn't sure whether I would be staying in the LDC or even at CCU or not. I had applied for the Administrative Assistant position in the LDC and found our a few days before the party that I didn't receive the job. The next day the Dean of the School of Theology hired me :) So, instead of a going away party we referred to it as the "transition" party. People would come to say goodbye and I got the opportunity to surprise them by saying I'm not going anywhere :)
Graduation was May 8th. I could write a book about that but I'll spare you all. I had so much fun at graduation congratulating all of the students I worked with over the last four years. It was so amazing to watch them receive their diploma which they worked so hard for. Most of my students are sticking around the area so I wasn't too sad. The last two months have been filled with so many blessings I don't think being sad ever hit me. The transitions and change have been really good. I loved my job as an Advisor but now I'm really looking forward to my job in the STH as well as being home more with our little man Harrison.
After my last day at work my mom came to visit. we spent a week with her shopping, eating, and exploring. It was a lot of fun. We celebrated Nathan's birthday while she was here. She made him an apple pie (his favorite) and watched Harrison for us while we went out to dinner and a movie (guess the movie? Robinhood of course!) We took a trip to Estes Park through Rocky Mountain National Park. The road was closed that went up to the peaks and through it but it was still beautiful to drive around rather then through.
Last weekend Nathan's sister and brother in-law drove into town. Seth is deploying to Afghanistan in June so when he was granted vacation they decided to go on a road trip. They visited his family and then drove up to Denver from Texas to see us. They were planning on driving through Utah and into arizona but after several days on the road they decided Denver would be their last stop before turning back. We had a lot of fun. We went on a hike around Roxsborough Park and we even went to a Rockies game. We got amazing tickets because Seth's friend is on the team. They not only blessed us with free tickets to the game but they bought us a highchair to put in the kitchen so that Harrison has another place to hang out. It was great to have them here ad to get to know Seth a little better before he leaves.
This sumer has all intention of being a busy one. We plan on either selling or renting out our townhome so the deep cleaning and painting begins. We've already met with our realtor and plan on meeting with a mortgage broker this week to talk through what we can and cannot do. We would appreciate your prayers. We have heard that in order to purchase a second property you have to have renters in your first property for at least 6 months. We are praying this isn't the case but if it is then we will need to find an apartment to lease for 6 months. The prayer is that we find a great renting deal so that we can save as much money as we can until we purchase our home. We also need prayer that we find a great deal on a fixer upper whether that be a for-closure or a short sale. We plan on living in a temporary place while we work hard to find the best property but we don't want to be locked in to renting and waiting for 6 more months. Winter is a bad time to move. We also need prayer as to whether renting or selling is the right thing to do. The market is so bad we would be out quite a bit of money if we sold this place. We'll see though...
We also will be busy leading our home group (Bible study) and me leading a girls college Bible study. I'm excited about my women's Bible study that I've been in for 4 years. This summer we are reading a few fictional novels to take a break from Bible study. We are also flying out to Oregon for the fourth of July, we just bought our tickets so we are excited to head to the coast for a week. Nathan might also leave for a trip for Prison Fellowship. I think it's still up in the air.
Well that's it for us, at least I think it is. Part II will be following soon!
