July 4th in Seaside...no Leisurely Holiday by the Sea

We hope you all had a great 4th of July, and wanted to write a few quick memories we thought were worth sharing with regard to ours...and not all of them are positive. In fact, let me begin with the least positive, the hour and a half it took us to drive eight blocks.

All we had to do was get from 9th ave. to 1st ave. and we did, but with post-firework traffic in the small Oregon town of Seaside, a quick drive home from the beach was, supposedly, asking too much. To top it off, at one point in the drive, Libby put her foot down in the leftover Rhubarb Crunch, but it was okay because the plastic wrap caught most of it.

The positive memories...the fireworks, family, and food (how's that for alliteration!) Oh yea, and the fish (starfish)... We had the opportunity to go down to the beach early one morning before the fog cleared, and see the starfish clinging to the rock monoliths.

The fireworks on the beach reminded me more of the trench warfare of WWII than they do of a leisurely holiday by the sea.

God bless you all!

Nathan (for Libby and Tiny Jones too)

The annual parade. They out did themselves this year!
Yep, that's a pirate!
Libby's grandparent's friends live in that condo building. It used to be a lot with one house and then the condo builder bought them out by only giving them a condo... sad story.
Libby's grandpa got a scooter so that he could join us at the beach! That was exciting!
We had a bonfire. Don't worry, we took grandpa some smores.

Feel the love?
