Three flat tires, 40 hours in transit, and 1 unexpected treacherous mountain pass later...we made it! Last July we traded the Nissan Pathfinder in for something with a little better gas mileage. Maybe next time we will also keep the criteria: "responds well to links that have fallen of semi-truck snow chains"...
Anyhow, we arrived in beautiful Seaside, OR on Monday, December 22nd, in order to spend a few weeks with Libby's mom and grandparents. We always love being in the Pacific Northwest around the holidays. It is a relaxing break for us from the day to day business that seems to have become our life in Denver. A nice break to visit family, hang out at the world's best bagel shop (Bagels by the Sea), and enjoy walks on the beach is always appreciated around that time in the year.
One of the highlights of our trip was a night at the cozy Stephanie Inn in beautiful Canon Beach.
The picture above is of Libby sitting on a log outside our room which had a great view of Haystack Rock (just to the right of the rock in the picture). This picture captures much of the serenity we had the privilege of experiencing throughout our time on the coast.
By God's grace, our trip back to Colorado was much less eventful than the trip out. That was until we ran into an IKEA in Salt Lake City...and 5 hours later we were back on the road. I'll just say this much; Bentley had a tighter ride from Salt Lake City back to Denver, than he had from Portland to Salt Lake City. The home office, however, looks great as a result.
God bless and have a great New Year!
