My Turn

Nathan wrote up our last post so I thought I would write something up real quick :)

I am EXHAUSTED!

These last two weeks of work have been horrendous and Harrison has been off since his Dr. appointment on tuesday. Some friends came over last night think that he might be teething. The drooling and fussiness I think gave it away...

Hopefully with my students stuck in their classes now (the last day to add/drop was Wednesday), things will slow down at work and I'll be able to post more pictures and update you on all the fun things Harrison is doing. Hopefully Nathan and I will get some other down time too...

Let me add some things to Nathan's blog.
  • Harrison LOVES soft blankets. After Harrison's 6 am breakfast we take off all his clothes, keep him in a diaper and then let him play between two soft blankets.
  • Harrison prefers his hands over his binki when falling asleep now. It's starting to become a bit of a relief. No more running up the stairs to insert the binki when it falls out.
  • From the video you can now see that Harrison laughs, A LOT! He's a cute little giggler. That started about a week and a half ago. He laughs when tickled and when you dance in front of him.
  • He's found his high pitch squeal and uses it during play time. That started yesterday.
  • He's no longer hungry at the 3 hour mark but he wont stay up longer than an hour so it's making our schedule for him a bit tricky. Today he's actually not slept longer than an hour each nap... Hopefully he's teething and that's the reason why his naps are horrible... We're working our way to a four hour schedule, I think it's going to take a while.
  • We are trying to move him to waking up at 7am instead of 6. The schedule used to be that he would have his last feeding at 9 and sleep till 6. Now we are shooting for 10 and 7 that way I can get ready at 6am rather than wait for him to go back to sleep to get ready.
  • He is starting to like tummy time now that he can grab for things in front of him. He stays up on his arms for about 5 to 10 minutes. After that he gets tired and just lays there, sucking on his hands and talking.
  • At Christmas time he was given a new Bumbo chair that helps him sit up right. He can sit in it for about ten minutes and then is done. It takes the little guy a lot of effort to control his head :)
  • He can now hold on to his toys and slam them into his face... He's trying to chew on them but his movements are still not that steady. He just ends up hitting himself with his toys, close to his mouth.
  • Last week his favorite thing was to kick his feet way up into the air and grab his toes. Then he would slam his feet back down on the ground He's do it over and over again.
  • The wedge is gone. We found him after one nap more on top of it than between it so we decided to take it out. Now he just sleeps sprawled out.
  • He gets really impatient and frustrated when he wants to do something but can't. When he can't reach the toy he wants he lets out a short frustrated cry and then gives up and goes for a different one.
  • He likes to cuddle now, which I love!
  • We moved our couch so that our house is now more open for Harrison to play. We placed a big blanket on the ground and put al his toys around. Now when Nathan and I are working from home, he can play independently and we can get work done.
  • We saw our first movie in 4 months on Thursday! We broke down and paid Lindsi to watch him Thursday evening so that we could see Blindside. It was a great movie! We recommend it to everyone!
  • Some friends of ours are working on a babysitting swap with us. One weekend we get their son and the next they get Harrison. It'll average out to be two weekends every month until May. We're looking forward to not paying $50 just to see a movie :)
  • The Dr. said no solids until 6 months. So, we're still holding off on rice cereal until then.
  • We are attending a 6 week seminar on raising great kids. We're excited about it! This sunday Aundi and Brendan are being very helpful and watching Harrison while we're at the seminar for two hours.
  • We got a Wii for Christmas and love it! It gives us something to do from 7-10 in the evenings after we're done reading or watching 24, Lost, American Idol, etc.
I'm trying to think if there is anything we've missed...

Well, if I come up with anything else I'll let you all know. Here are some more pictures :)

His great grandma gave him this hoodie.

Super baby!
This is my favorite picture of Harrison, EVER!

Here's a smile for you.

  1. I love that pic of Harrison (your fave)! Such a great expression! And the one of him helping Nate work is a great one too! Hope work slows down for you and things start getting back on schedule for Harrison and y'all! The date swap thing sounds like a great option! Yea for that! :)
